J'ai vu cette façon de nommer sur le wikipedia espagnol. Ça m'a un peu destabilisé, mais j'ai trouvé cela assez astucieux et je l'ai proposé parmis d'autres solutions. About promotion, I don't think that send e-mails can be a good idea. It is kind of spam and it can be harm to Vikidia.

I suggested the use of forums and blogs to talk about Vikidia because this includes the site in the search engineers many times.

Did you think that Wikimedia can help us to promote Vikidia?

In the objectives of Wikimedia Argentina says:

Maintain relations and cultural exchange with other institutions and national or foreign, public or private.

Maybe they can help us. Is high the popularity of Vikidia in France?

Promotion and other things

Ok. About promote Vikidia in blogs of forums: it isn't a good idea. Forget it!

It is interesting (about the leaflet) . However, kids don't go to Wikipedia's events. But it is ok. We must to thank that Wikimedia do not ignore us :P

Yes, Vikidia is quite well known among wikipedians. But we need that kids enter to Vikidia, not wikipedians!!! :P What can we do to kids enter it? I'm not sure about it...

About the asociation: I want help you specially to promote Vikidia in Spanish. Maybe, I can to take charge of Vikidia in Argentina, but I don't know how can I help of editing. Participate in your association means colaborate to pay the hosting? Because, in this case, I can't help.

I was reading about Gleducar. This is a guvernamental project destined to promove the use of computers in colleges and send some computers to very poor schools. However, as they have a wiki, they can be interested in Vikidia. I'm going to contact them and later I'm going to comunicate you their answer.

I read the message if you send to Racso in his discussion about talk of Vikidia en wp:Ayuda:FAQ Colegios. I'm not sure about it. It can be violate the self-promotion rules, but Racso is going to help you better than me. If Gleducar is present in the FAQ, why not Vikidia? I think that it must be named in there page.

About promote Vikidia in blogs of forums: it isn't a good idea. Forget it! Well, don't forget it too fast ! I mean that the aim should be that people know about Vikidia, and tell about it. If they have any chance to be informed throught blogs or so, that may be a way ! The best think is of course is that bloger would write themselves post about this wiki, after they would have seen another post about it or get a e-mail... Well, that's something that each one has to feel to know when a message would be productive or would be condidered as spam.

About getting known by kids : I don't know THE way to do it. I guess they use the search engine just as adults, (85 % of visits on fr.vikidia are from search engine, 10 % from other websites.) So you have to be known and well rated by search engine (mainly google). That's another reason to get article or post on blog about Vikidia. We also configurated the french wiki so that it displays a « Henri II » expliqué par Vikidia, l'encyclopédie pour les enfants. with the title of each oage. I think we should do something similar here. Another way to be known by children is to be selected as an interesting website for children by other websites or portal for them.

And about Wikipedians, they can help a lot. I mean only some of them on fr.vikidia could do such a work on the wiki organisation, categorisation, images licenses... The wiki wouldn't be as clean as it is now without them. Anyway, we need everybody ! I mean children, teenagers, students, teachers, wikipedians, older people...

Just another thing about promotion, I could observe that at least in France, documentalista/bibliotecario (not the ones on the wiki ;-) are people that can relay pretty well informations about such a wiki : either by telling about it to pupils themseves, teachers, to their colleagues on the internet, or even in school helping a teacher to organize a participation to Vikidia (it happenned several times). I guess that school bibliotecario must be people to contact and let know about such a wiki. Thnak you, I hope that you can do something and that other people will help ! I think that you are right when you said that the participation of wikipedians (as me) is very usefull. Specially, to manteniment and management. But Vikidia is the enciclopedy of and for the kids! If kids can write and edit the articles, it will be better.

In Spanish Vikidia, Racso and Pericallis are who were wrote more articles, and think about kids visit the Spanish wiki is a utopic idea today.

Be selected as a good site for other websites for kids, periodics and magazines is the best in free promotion.

I don't know that eight-years-old kids use the search engineer and they aren't going to search "enciclopedy" to diversion.

I think that notice about Vikidia to other educative sites is the best idea to promote it. It is the best that we can do.

At today, I had created about ten articles in only one day! I hope that I continue colaborating!
